We are currently seeking to recruit a Facilities Manager (Grade 7) within our Corporate Services and Accounts Directorate.
The Facilities Manager is responsible for successfully leading, managing and delivering a high quality facilities management team. You will support the delivery of the strategic aspirations in the SLAB corporate plan in compliance with relevant legislation including leading on statutory reporting requirements for Carbon management.

About the role
The Scottish Legal Aid Board (SLAB) requires the Facilities Manager to ensure the efficient and effective facilities management and health and safety service aligned with the strategic aspirations in the SLAB corporate plan in compliance with relevant regulatory standards and legislation.
Based in Thistle House, Haymarket Terrace, Edinburgh you will be responsible for leading a team to deliver a high-quality customer focused service. Your responsibilities include managing the building, health and safety advice and providing a security, reception, and support service for the whole of SLAB.
SLAB have nine remote offices where your responsibility is to negotiate leases and arrange contracts. You will be the key liaison with the tenants in Thistle House and landlords of our remote offices.
SLAB is a Non Department Public Body, you will be the lead on the relationship with Scottish Government on all property matters.
You will lead on SLAB’s asset management, carbon management and biodiversity duties, ensuring compliance with legislation and reporting requirements.
You will be responsible for managing the revenue budget, currently £1m expenditure and £600k income, including managing the contracts for facilities management in line with best practice and national framework contracts. You will be responsible for the capital budget, approx. £100k per annum.
SLAB have 2 pool cars; you will be responsible for management of these and ensuring appropriate maintenance and insurance.
As a member of the Corporate Services management team, the Facilities Manager has a vital role in helping to drive SLAB forward to meet its corporate objectives.
You will play a key role in business continuity planning and our response.
The successful candidate will have a degree in facilities/property related subject with extensive facilities management experience.
This post is permanent on a full time basis.
