The Scottish Legal Aid Board’s Public Defence Solicitors’ Office (PDSO) is looking for a Legal Secretary/Administrator to copy and audio type, organise solicitor’s diary appointments, act as first point of contact for clients, deal with telephone calls and handle incoming and outgoing correspondence. Other duties include arranging meetings, inputting client and case details onto the client computer system, plus other general administration as required.
Strong audio typing skills (and general speed / accuracy in typing - minimum 40 w.p.m.);
administrative experience; and knowledge of filing and diary systems is essential, as is a good working knowledge of PCs, Word and databases. You must have Standard Grade passes at level 1 to 3 (or equivalent) in English and Maths, or equivalent level work experience. You should have good communication, time management and organisational skills. Experience of criminal law administration and/or electronic case management systems is highly desirable.
