Working pattern:Full time, Permanent

The Scottish Legal Aid Board (SLAB) has a number of opportunities to join our policy and corporate governance teams as they develop and implement improvements to the legal aid system in Scotland.

We have an important role in improving the administration of the legal aid system. We are currently progressing through a period of internal improvement with a focus on effective policy development and decision making.

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the small and friendly teams in Policy & Development and the Chief Executive’s Office.

We are looking for three Policy Officers on a permanent basis. Two positions will be in the Policy & Development Team. One position will be in the Chief Executive’s Office focussing on corporate policy and interactions with the Chief Executive and our non-executive Board and its Committees.

Based in Edinburgh, you will contribute to the development and implementation of initiatives to improve SLAB’s internal policies and procedures for the benefit of those that access legal aid services. Work will include internal cross-departmental projects, corporate policy and corporate governance projects and more outward facing engagement with stakeholders, including the Scottish Government.

You should have a good level of experience of working in either a corporate policy development and corporate projects environment, or corporate governance as well as being able to deal with working to tight deadlines. For the Policy & Development posts, you will preferably have experience of working in policy for a public sector body, with basic knowledge of relevant equalities duties.

Visit www.slab-vacancies.org.uk for further information and to apply online. Please make it clear on the application which roles you are applying for. If there is no note we will assume you are interested in both areas. For assistance, email recruitment@slab.org.uk, or phone 0131 240 2027. Completed applications should be returned by midnight on 15 December 2019. We will endeavour to shortlist candidates thereafter with interviews being held in early January 2020 (likely 8 January onwards).
