We are currently seeking to recruit a Civil Court Solicitor (Grade 5 or 6, depending on experience) within the Civil Legal Assistance Office in Inverness.

Starting salary for Grade 5 is £36,690, within a pay band up to £39,460 (pro rata if part time).
Starting salary for Grade 6 is £41,140, within a pay band up to £46,940 (pro rata if part time).

The Scottish Legal Aid Board (SLAB) was set up in 1987 to manage legal aid in Scotland. We are a non-departmental public body responsible to the Scottish Government. The Civil Legal Assistance Office (CLAO) was established in its current form in 2008. The service operates through a mix of casework; referral to other providers of legal assistance and support; second tier support to other providers (including training); and partnership/development project working with local and national organisations operating in the defined geographical areas.

About the role
The successful candidate will:
• Manage you own caseload, report to and assist the Head of Office
• Provide appropriate, timely and independent advice and representation
• Participate in rotas to provide a duty service and second tier advice to partner agencies
• Support managers and less experienced staff to ensure the delivery of complex casework services across the network
• Provide training, guidance, information and opinions internally as well as to partner organisations
• Form effective links and referral mechanisms with solicitors in private practice and partner agencies
• Contribute to policy development on delivery of civil legal assistance

This post is permanent on a full time basis.
